M5-M50 Narrow Gauge Modellers – report 27 November 2017

Next meeting: Monday 29 January 2018.

Our last meeting of 2017 saw 26 people enjoying some festive fare and sharing their experiences of the Warley show held over the weekend just gone. Having done sterling work promoting the 009 Society at that show, several members from the West Midlands group took a well-deserved evening off, and we look forward to seeing them again in January. There is no meeting in December as the last Monday in that month coincides with a visit from Santa, so let us hope he brings many narrow gauge models to those who have not been naughty over the past year.

Santa had obviously made an early call at Steve Mann’s address, as he was showing on the test track some exquisite coaches from a Limited Edition made by Fourdees, basically some PECO freelance vehicles but with a special brown and cream livery and some very well applied and attractive gold lining. The 4 wheel coach and brake van retail at only £24.75 each, a bargain in view of the quality of the finish on these models, which will doubtless be very popular.

A special thank you goes to everyone who has helped the group in whatever way during 2017, and particularly to Blair Hobson’s daughter Gael, who has kindly looked after our refreshments on several occasions. Christmas greetings and a Happy New Year to you all and please attend our meetings in 2018 if you would like to share your narrow gauge interest with us.

You are assured of a warm welcome at our meetings, with cake and coffee, in the company of like-minded narrow-gauge enthusiasts. We meet on the last Monday of the month, our next meetings being on 29 January and 26 February starting at 19.30 hours at Twyning village hall near Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, GL20 6DF.
